A naked bike is the easy answer here. Upright, wide bars, light enough to flick through the hairpins on the narrow TF roads, and enough grunt for the long drag up to Teide. If you’re only renting one bike, rent this.
Middleweight nakeds in particular (Yamaha MT-07, KTM Duke, Honda CB500) are popular on the island because they forgive without being boring. If you already have experience, reach for the MT-09 or bigger.
With A2 you get versions restricted to 35kW (e.g. the MT-07 A2); with the full A you ride anything. Either way: the most versatile bike if you only take one for the week.
