Tenerife is adventure country. In a single day you ride from the Atlantic through the Anaga cloud forest up into the moonscape on Teide: temperature, bend radius and surface change constantly. That’s exactly what the travel enduro is made for: you sit high and look over the bends, the long suspension travel irons out rough tarmac, and the range easily covers an island loop.
The BMW R 1250/1300 GS is the classic here; the Yamaha Ténéré 700 and Honda Africa Twin are the slightly lighter, more playful alternatives. You’re also set up for the few permitted tracks in the backcountry, but be careful: off-road riding is strictly forbidden in Teide National Park.
The big GS models need the full A. Middleweight enduros are available as A2 versions.
